Initiative Petitions

Florida citizens have the right to propose amendments to the Florida Constitution through an initiative petition process. The Putnam County Supervisor of Elections verifies thousands of initiative petitions each year signed by voters in Putnam County. Sponsors of these initiatives must secure the required number of valid signatures in order for their initiative to be placed on a General Election ballot.

Pursuant to Florida Statute 100.371(11)(b), Putnam County’s actual cost of signature verification of an initiative petition is $0.65.  (Effective 2/2/2022)

More information on Florida's petition process, including a list of current initiatives, can be found on the Florida Division of Elections website.
